Intersection of Bleecker and Sullivan Streets, Lower Manhattan, NYC
Another dropship crashed into the ground down the street from the first. It sent a wave of dust and debris over the civilians surrounding it, and crushed a number of cars on impact. Another collided with it. Inside this dropship was no one of consequence, only thousands more of the vicious four-armed Outriders, ready to kill anything in their path. That was enough of a threat for most.
The door hissed open, and no sooner had they created a gap from the ship than the occupants began pouring into the street below. They were not mindful of injury to themselves. Indeed, they seemed to operate with no sense of self-preservation, only a compulsion to find what their master required--and to kill. The civilians who did not get out of their way quickly fell prey to their razor sharp claws and wicked, gnashing teeth. The Outriders fell on their hapless victims like blood-frenzied hounds.
But this was not the only surprise at the corner of Bleecker and Sullivan. Two enormous siege machines rolled out from the large door at the bottom of the dropship, large vehicles resembling sawblades in both shape and function. Their engines revved up, before they began to move forward, threatening to cut down and squash both people and buildings.
Even amid the fray, one presence was conspicuously missing: that of the instigator himself, the name whispered in fear, the shadow haunting the outer edges of consciousness for so long for those who knew of him. Thanos. He would wait until the moment was right, until his moment was at hand, when his presence and efforts would be at the pinnacle of efficiency. He would not waste his energy on lesser opponents, nor would he give them a chance to retrieve his gauntlet or the Infinity Stones he had already collected until he was reasonably certain that he would have another to add to his set.

The arrival of the dropships was not quiet and nor was it subtle. Thomas had felt something off ... something that shook in his very soul and he knew something bad was coming. All of the stories he had been told about how he would know when the great evil was coming popped into his mind and he hated that it felt like this was the time. He didn't feel ready for it and he knew that it could lead to his death. However, that didn't mean he was going to hide like a coward. Dressed in his Puma outfit, his fur was marked in the ancient traditional warpaint of his tribe as he took to the streets. Finding the source of the attacks was not hard at all.
Seeing as the monsters poured out of the ships, he set a feral grin on his face as he let go of anything might hold him back. Pushed aside was the humanity of his nature only to be replaced by as much of the Puma as he could muster. Thomas launched into his attack as he sought to give the civilians as much time to flee to somewhere safer as he could. It was with claws, teeth and almost pure animal fury that he tore into the outriders. Any thought as to whether they were living beings or not was beyond him now as he only saw then as a threat to be removed and destroyed until he could get to the one he wanted to really sink his claws into. Moving as fast as he could the moment one or more lay dead as he took them down, Thomas noticed a few others in action also.
Quickly, the warpaint on his fur was marred by outrider blood as he cared little for how feral or wild he looked. These things would die ... not just for who they served, but because this was what he had been trained and raised for. Today, the great evil would find that at least one native son of the planet stood against him and his forces.
Creed was leaning against a building when the dropship crashed to the ground an easy smirk raising to his lips at the sight. He supposed for a moment that the X-Dweebs weren’t quiet as moronic and cowardly as they had seemed when they came to visit the Brotherhood in order to advise them in regard to the attack that was coming from some punk from space. There were enough people from space to fill a planet, yet they all seemed to like this green n’ blue one that was named Earth. Creed couldn’t even begin to understand why but as he looked on at all the outriders that came storming out of the ship he was glad this one did. The reason they were here, the savage could care less about but the fact that they were here meant that there were people that he could outright kill in cold blood and nobody would bat an eye. He was also informed that if all life was decimated on the planet then there wouldn’t be anyone for him to pulverize and it was with that in mind that Creed rose to full height. He didn’t care about being a damned hero, but he was going to be damned if he’d be left out of a fight. Damned if he would be the last person left around.
Creed let the leader duster he had been wearing fall to the asphalt of the roof he was standing on revealing the yellow and brown spandex that was trimmed with white fur around the neck mixing itself in with his wild yellow locks. Sabretooth took a moment to bring a sharp nail to his teeth, cleaning the space between his canine tooth and front while people nearby screamed as their life was taken from them.
Victor reveled in the sounds of fear and torture, but these ones were not caused by him. It was with the purpose of getting a scream from these would be invaders that Victor used his strength to leap from the roof and land atop a four-armed bastards that thought they could roll up onto Creeds hunk of dirt and water and do whatever they pleased. “Not today” Creed spoke loudly “not tomorrow” he added slashing at any of these aliens being with his razor-sharp claws. Going for wounds on most as opposed to killed before attacking the other. He wouldn’t even try to help someone being attacked unless they were next in line for him. “I’m the one around here who causes pain and misery. Now be a good four armed bastard and let me hear you scream!” Victor demanded of his opponent grabbing and squeezing, pulling and tearing. Anything to get a rise out of his enemy.
It was a day they had all be dreading. Like a painful dentist appointment you wanted to avoid but ultimately you knew would come. Doreen had been preparing though. This was her big break after all. First big bad world ending event she was going to be a part of stopping. The last alien invasion had stayed clear of Milwaukee. Luckily for them. When Doreen had seen all the coverage on television she had felt jealous. Now that she watched the alien forces descend on the city she realized how silly it was to have been so eager about this. It was completely different to be standing in front of it. Watching the innocents flee in terror.
Tippy-Toe had been hard at work. Bringing together the squirrel army. They had put the critters on high alert since Fury had given her 'the talk' about the birds and giant alien overlords. Even going so far as to organizes watches to keep an eye out for the inasion since they knew it was on the way. As soon as the first signs of war had showed up the squirrel population of New York was hard at work. Throughut the five boroughs the creatures, usually viewed as rodents and pests, were acting quite unusual. Rows of squirrels traveling quickly through the populated areas. Large groups seemingly migrating towards one location. That location? The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. About to put the 'Unbeatable' claim to the test. She had the squirrels working crowd control for now. Citizens were hesitant to follow the instructions of the furry creatures but they were given little choice.
Doreen's concern were focused more on the villains that posed the imminent threat. The four armed drones were a far cry from what she normally faced but that had never cause Squirrel Girl to falter before. She was brave if nothing else. Besides, what made space baddies any different from earth baddies? Oh...giant saw wheels of death. Yeah that was definitely different. But now was no time fro gawking. There were lives at risk and action needed to be taken. Dori punched out a pair of outriders with one wide strike before making a break for the closest Thresher. Her squirrel like agility carried her swiftly through the abandoned cars that littered the road. The churning saw cut through a lane of the empty automobiles, causing a horrific sound as it made short work of them. Bracing a foot off a Prius and springing into the air Doreen clung to the side of the mechanism. Just shy of where the Outrider sat at the controls.
As Squirrel Girl gripped the side of the vehicle she let out a long loud whistle. One that seemed to draw the attention of the squirrels not immediately working evacuation efforts.
<Come get him boys and girls!> She chattered out over the screeching vehicle to her furry comrades.
@Thomas Fireheart @Thor Odinson @Tony Stark @Victor Creed
The sky was falling. Quite literally the sky was being filled by alien space crafts and Thor watched as they fell to earth. Thor knew this meant only one thing. Destiny had arrived. Thanos had arrived and for all his cries of wolf now was when his warnings would prove fruitful. Thor wondered if Thanos himself would engage this time or if he would once again sit from his ivory tower while his minions did his bidding for him and only stepping out once he felt the war had been won.
Thor’s anger towards his father in robbing him of his chance to fight Thanos one on one and possibly end the slaughter on Asgard was outweighed by his guilt that he was not able to save his father or his fallen subjects. But, the King of Asgard would have his redemption. Thor would have his second chance at Thanos and this time his father would not be around to stop him or use his dark magic to teleport Thor thousands of miles away from the fight. Thor was still undecided if he dreaded this encounter or if he relished it.
Thor recognized Thanos’ personal ship as it descended down to the earth. As much as he’d like to put Mjolnir through the face of Ebony Maw or any of Thanos’ other generals. Thor’s fight was with Thanos and Thor intended to give him all of the fight he could handle. Thor raised Mjonir up to the skies and summoned the lightening and thunder. A crack of lightening soared through the sky as his own warning shot to Thanos, a shot across the bow from Thor to Thanos letting him know full well the God of Thunder was here, and the God of Thunder had not forgotten the genocide of Asgard.
Thor then took to the skies himself and flew towards the spaceship. As Thor looked below he saw other heroes had already engaged the Outriders, the same beasts who weakened Asgards army and defenses before the City of the Gods fell. As such Thor crashed down in the middle of the New York street with a pulse of electricity coming off his landing and zapping a horde of the Outriders, killing some, injuring others and momentarily incapacitating the rest within his proximity. With the small gap in the Outriders attack Thor looked up towards Thanos’ ship once again and raised his mighty mallet. “THANOS! HAVE AT THEE COWARD!” Thor shouted defiantly.
Blood they wanted, and blood they would receive. Though they operated almost mindlessly, the Outriders were organic creatures; leathery flesh and dark blood that could spill just as much as any other being's, provided one had the might to achieve it. They gave as good as they got for most people. But their strengths were not just their impressive physical attributes, but their blood frenzy and force of numbers. The Outriders outnumbered the heroes without question, a swarm of teeth and claws and pain. They did not scream when Victor and Thomas cut through them, but rather, howled with fury and hunger and redoubled their efforts.
But they were not the biggest threat there. No, quite literally, it was the enormous sawbladed vehicles making short work of the obstacles in the streets. They shredded and flattened cars as well as whatever unlucky individuals had not gotten out of the way fast enough. Inside of the Threshers were six-armed Outriders, more intelligent than the four-armed grunts covering the streets and attacking on foot; superiors of a sort, enough that they could be trusted with piloting vehicles of death and destruction with minimal damage to their own side. That was what Doreen, her army of squirrels, and any other cohorts faced should they take on the two Threshers.
The ship Thor attacked was, in fact, not the one belonging to Thanos. It was a Q-ship, which had carried the higher ranked minions of Thanos--the Black Order--to Earth. At the moment, it was empty, with its occupants already on the ground and forming their own attacks. The Sanctuary II, the flagship of the Mad Titan, was nowhere to be seen.
It felt like an impossible wave to stop as the things kept coming. For every one of them he cut down, another took its place for him to cut down. However, that didn't stop him from ripping into each and everyone of them with an animalistic rage. These things would see his people dead if they got a foothold here and moved to other parts of the of the country. He main thought was, that as much time as he could do something keep the fight here ... the more time his people had to get themselves and anyone else they cared about into the cave shelters that had been set up for this outcome. While hiding might seem the ideal solution, Thomas knew that his people would better be able to defend themselves there since they had centuries to prepare many traps within.
However, he could feel it in his bones that the ultimate threat wasn't even here. It wasn't anything concrete that he knew for sure, but something told him the thing he was meant to fight was somewhere else. Yet, he was here now and he would not abandon the fight here to go finding something that might not even be on the planet yet. Thomas was worried about one person more than anyone else at the moment though. He knew Yana was here somewhere fighting her own battle and he hoped she didn't get killed. He honestly liked the girl a lot and once the dust settled and if they both survived, he was was going to tell her that even if her brother wasn't keen on the idea.
Whatever the case, he fought on and noticed another attacking with an animal fury as he was. In all honesty, he didn't care who it was ... just that the man was was taking the things out while a young woman that looks something like a squirrel was going after machines making short work of everything in their path. A idea hit him then as he fought to get close enough to the other claw and tooth fighter.
"Those machines want something to chew up ... how about we give them something to chew on by getting these things in their path. Shouldn't be to hard to get these ugly things to follow us since we are hurting them enough and they probably want to skin us at this point."
These aliens weren’t so different than Creed, at least of the surface. They were out for blood as much as he was and they howled and fought tooth and nail to achieve it. Creed bit, clawed and attacked in anyway that he could as well, tearing limb from body before his own could be, and in their howling her started as well for the same reason. Fury. Hunger. There had been so few times n all his long life that he was able to let go completely and just attack everyone and anyone. A war here and there he hoped to the enemy side and did just that but they didn’t have the strength that these things did, they didn’t have that infectious howling rage and indomitable wills like they did. Creed was loving every minute of it and for each one that attacked him he attacked back with swipes and pounces. His wounds would heal(presumably) so he did little to protect himself aside from attacking first.
Some annoyance came to his side taking of strategy and about some machines that were grinding up building and cars and anything that go in their way and taking these waves of enemies to be in front of it. Fat chance, Victor thought heaving with his might at the arm of one of the four armed aliens in an attempt to rip it off completely. Barring that he always had a fist that he could use. “Be my guest” he’d growl out and aim to hit @Thomas Fireheart either with the severed arm or his fist in an attempt to send him flying into the direction of the machines that were making quick work of everything in it’s path.
Successful or not, Creed would then start heaving his opponents in the same direction. Some of them at any rate, others he clawed at to prevent being overwhelmed.
Ever the team player.
@The Watcher @Thor Odinson @Doreen Green
Her chattering was barely audible over the terrifying whirl of the engine. Thankfully her communication didn't rely on verbal communication. It was just, you know, polite! The message was sent though and the army was hard at work. The machine moved quickly so their timing had to be spot on to make it work. As it effortlessly mowed down a row of parked cars who were going to luck out on any parking tickets they may of had a small squadron of squirrels hurdled from the tree. They landed among the central structure that seemed to remain still like some sort of gyroscope as the blades carried it further. The driver, a six armed odd ball that seemed to not be pleased by their company snarled in her general direction.
"Yeah well I'm not happy to see you either." Dorreen snarked at the alien as she stuck out her tongue. Balling up her fist she gave him a full powered shot across the jaw. As it recoiled from the blow the crew of eight squirrels charged into the cockpit at the center of the blade. The vehicle still maintained course despite the brawl that took place at its center. Two squirrels covering the monsters eyes, keeping careful to steer clear of teeth, while the other went to work on chewing through its restraints into the machine. Click it or ticket was one thing but this guy had to go. Another solid punch from Doreen seemed to knock the guy loose of conciousness. Grabbing one of his many arms to choose from Doreen heaved him over her shoulder and threw him out into the street.
That...was about the extent of her plan. The seat looked somewhat humanoid. If anything slightly bigger than what a small gal like Squirrel Girl would have needed but as she slid into the cockpit she fluffed up her tail underneath her to make up the difference. There were six controls to the vehicle. One for each of the Outriders hands leaving Doreen a bit short in taking control.
<Okay gang. Rally! I need a hand...or four.> As Doreen sat, the vehicle still rushing through the streets causing chaos and dismay, he Squirrel Squad met together on her lap. Without need for much else verbal instruction the critters climbed up into each hand hold, four squirrels acting as additional hands for the controls. Testing the controls Doreen pulled back and to her surprise the spinning sawblade stopped short.
"Okay okay this ain't that hard..." Biting her tongue Doreen moved the arms to the left causing the vehicle to turn in opposite directions on both sides and do an about face. Aiming the vehicle back at the hordes oncoming Doreen pushed her hands forward and the vehicle took off to begin tearing through the alien scum.
"THIS IS TOTALLY AWESOOOOMMEEEE!" The heroines voice carried out as she propelled down the street.
Thor had surmised back on Asgard Thanos was nothing more than a coward and a bully. He hid behind his minions, his army, his Infinity Stones. Even wielding the Infinity Gauntlet and a handful of Stones Thanos could be the most formidable foe Thor had ever faced. Yet, Thanos hid like the coward he was, afraid of a real fight. He bided his time and only struck once the battle was won and now he aimed to do the same here on Midgard. Thor had no respect for Thanos, When Thor led an army into battle he actually led them. He did not sit idly back while the grunts plowed the way for him.
“THANOS!” Thor shouted to the skies once again as he used his Mighty Mallet Mjolnir to mash, mangle, mush, maul, and mar with malice intent on the various voracious, violent, villainous, vermin which vanquished a good and many of them. However, no matter how many Outriders Thor and his fellow heroes all of which he had never met nor seen before. Yet he was still happy to have their aid as two of them seemed just as blood thirsty and ravenous as the Outriders were and the other one seemed to control a small army of tiny vermin herself.
“I KNOW YOU ARE OUT THERE! SHOW YOURSELF AND LET’S END THIS LIKE MEN!” Thor yelled once again as the battle continued. However, a new threat came crashing down the streets of New York City. The Outriders were driving death machines of their own if they were not already dangerous enough on their own. Thor did not fear for his safety with the roaring machines coming towards, nor the safety of the other two men fighting alongside him. Yet when he saw the tiny rodents in danger that was enough to capture Thor’s attention and take him off the fighting of the Outriders and look towards the rolling machines.
Those fears subsided when the small girl and the army of Rodents successfully highjacked one of the Sawbladed machines and turned it back on the Outriders. “Ride fast and furious little ones!” Thor cheered on with encouragement as his momentary distraction allowed an Outrider to jump on his back. Thor needed to wrestle the beast for a moment before shaking it free and slamming it down with the full force of Mjolnir. With that threat neutralized Thor once again raised his trusty hammer Mjolnir to the skies and brought a series of lightening strikes down on a few of the still Outrider manned machines hoping to disable, discombobulate, dismantle and destroy them.
What teamwork they had paid off. The first of the two Threshers was successfully captured and piloted, and many of the Outriders were squashed under its bladed wheel, by design of both the driver and the men on the ground pushing enemies into its path.
Of course, there were only two of the Threshers at present: the one driven by an Outrider, the other by Squirrel Girl and her tiny army; both were struck by the lightning. It crashed into the first and then discharged from there, jumping to the other vehicle as they came within range of one another. The Outrider driver was electrocuted where it sat, and fell over dead, releasing the controls. As a result, the large, circular vehicle teetered dangerously, swerving off course and directly into a large residential building. Then it fell sideways, and both debris and the vehicle itself threatened to land on Puma and Sabretooth.
Thanos, though observing the battle from the skies above the clouds, was outside of yelling range. A warlord did not waste his time on fighting the foot soldiers and rabble. It was inefficient. However, in his observations, he saw something that amused him, and began the descent of the Sanctuary II...
The sky darkened, and a strong wind blew along Bleecker Street.
Thanos is still not present and attackable until the next Watcher post. Stark has permission to jump in whenever able.
Important point of note that Thomas found ... the other guy with claws was not a team player. Then again, he didn't look the type that was friendly. If anything, he reminded Thomas kind of like himself with the exception that the guy seemed more lost in his animal side. That was useful information for later as he just barely avoided the hit from the guy. Yet, this wasn't the time to even think about striking back at the other guy. Instead, he had done his best to get the things to chase him so that many of them ended up in front of the deadly blades of the very machines they had brought with them. Of course, he saw as the young woman with the fluffy tail claimed one of the machines.
That made it easier for him to get the things ground up in the blades reducing them in numbers. However, when one of the large machines went out of control, Thomas found himself in line to be smashed by it. Only by using several outriders to push himself off of was able to get clear of the thing as it crashed into one of the buildings. It didn't take long before he saw the building's structure start to give. A part of him said to run and find cover, but the sounds of people that hadn't been able to get clear reached his ears. Gritting his teeth, he knew that he couldn't leave the people to die without trying to do something.
However, as the building came down, Thomas got himself clear of the falling debris as much as he could. Only after he made sure that the debris that did hit him hadn't cut him to badly did he move to rescue as many people as he could from the disaster that laid everywhere around them as he yelled out.
"There are people trapped here ... we need to get out the ones that we can before the next wave of attack comes."
