A New Kind of Drug
Combat Enhancer, also known as MGH (mutant growth hormone), IGH (Inhuman growth hormone), SGH (superhuman growth hormone), and various other street names, is a new drug to hit the market that can grant temporary powers to those without, or provide a moderate boost to existing powers. It is derived from hormones produced by genetically enhanced individuals, including mutants, Inhumans, and mutates. The drug is not FDA approved, nor does it originate from the government. It is sold on the on the black market, by the sort of shady characters one might expect to deal in drugs. There is currently only one group supplying the drugs, but none of the dealers can name them.
The drugs are available as tablets, capsules, liquid injections, and inhalants. They are color coded by the genetic source material. MGH is red, IGH is blue, SGH is yellow. These are still experimental, so side effects are likely.Side effects:
highly addictive, especially for baseline humans, both psychologically and chemically; increased aggression; pain in one or more areas of the body; nausea; dizziness; migraine; fatigue; nosebleed; shakiness; unstable powers; unpredictable length of efficacy; and in rare circumstances, death.
On Enhanced Individuals
Provided the drug is compatible with the user's genetic makeup, it can provide a temporary boost to the user's existing powers. However, if it is not compatible, the effects range from no effect whatsoever to nausea and terrible pain throughout the body. This is most often seen in mutants and Inhumans, which are not genetically compatible; meaning that if a mutant were to take an enhancer derived from Inhuman genetics, or vice versa, it would cause bad side effects.
On Baseline Humans
With baseline humans, it provides a temporary power they would not otherwise have. The power lasts anywhere from one to five hours, depending on the dose and the user. The powers are often copies of the source's, but may vary, especially if the user has unknown latent abilities. Sometimes the effects may be permanent or semi-permanent, rather than wearing off in a few hours, but these are rare cases.
Powers granted may include, but are not limited to, enhanced strength, enhanced stamina, regenerative healing factor, pain suppression, flight, fire breath, teleportation. Please contact staff if you plan to have your character take, or investigate, these substances.
